The question of how to set the table might have hit your mind several times, and most of the time, answers would also follow up. But what if you are running late and need to set the table with things available in your house? How does one do that? Don't worry; we have got you covered. Here are tips on setting the table from elements present in your house for a casual and formal function.

Casual Table Setting
The casual table setting is done for everyday events. For example, simple morning breakfast or dinner. This setting requires essential kitchen equipment such as dinner plates, flatware, napkins, table mat, and glass.
1. Cover the table with a table mat or table cover if required.
2. Place the plate in the middle of the table.
3. A salad plate should be placed on top of the dinner plate.
4. If soup is a part of your meal, place the soup bowl on the salad plate.
5. Fork and tissues must be on the left side of the plates.
6. The knife and spoon should be on the right side of the plates.
7. The napkin should be placed on the left of the decorative plate, if decorative plates are in use, otherwise beside the fork and tissues.
8. Lastly, water glass should be placed above the knife.

Formal Table Setting
The formal table setting is for big parties, functions, and events. It includes table cloth, charger plates, dinner plates, salad plates, soup bowls, tissues, and various forks such as dinner forks and salad forks. It also includes knives, dessert spoons, soup spoons, and water glasses.
1. Cover the table with a table mat or table cover.
2. Place a charger plate, and put the soup bowl in the middle of the charger plate.
3. Place the napkin on the left side of the charger plate.
4. The bread plate should be placed diagonally upward to the charger plate.
5. On the left side of the charger plate, place the forks. The forks can be placed on the napkin or between the charger plate and the napkin.
6. The knife should be placed on the right side of the charger plate.
7. The butter knife should be placed on the bread plate, pointing inwards.
8. Place the tablespoon above the charger plate.
9. The water glass should be placed directly above the knife.
10. The salt and pepper shakers can either be placed in the centre of the table or, if you have individual shakers, set them above the teaspoon.
